Introduction to Mikav
What is Mikav?
Mikav is an open-source AI copilot built on a native Malayalam model. Not a translate-patch — a real language brain from the ground up. It helps people know Kerala deep: art forms, history, festivals, culture. Ask anything, get a true answer.
Why We Built This
Kerala has one of the richest cultural heritages in the world — from Kathakali to Theyyam, from Onam to Thrissur Pooram, from ancient temples to backwater ecosystems. But this knowledge is scattered, hard to access digitally, and often lost in translation when processed through English-first AI systems.
We wanted an AI that thinks in Malayalam. One that understands the difference between "കഥകളി" as a living art form and a dictionary definition. One that knows the cultural weight behind a festival, not just its Wikipedia summary.
What Makes Mikav Different
Native Malayalam, not translated English. Most AI tools translate from English. Mikav is built from the ground up for Malayalam — idioms, context, cultural nuance, all native.
Open data, open code. Every dataset, every line of code, every roadmap decision is open. Researchers can download culture data freely. Developers can fork and build. Anyone curious can explore.
Beyond knowing — building. Mikav doesn't just answer questions. It bridges culture knowledge to real action. Want to start a venture around Kerala's art forms? Mikav connects you to incubation programs, grants, and mentors.
